Katja

 Katja is a somewhat disorganised, happy, flighty, flirty person with an engineer's approach to problem-solving. Katrijn can come across as impulsive, but easy to connect with emotionally. She has an almost childlike innocence and excitement about magic. However, her logical nature, engineering bias and approach to problems allow her to make unique personal contributions to problems the group encounters, and she has a strong intuitive understanding of how machines can interact with magic. She also has a vision of how the seven initiates will have to work together. This is partly the cause of her immediate and intense attraction to Alex. 

She is very direct with people, and if she decides something must happen, she dives straight in without letting possible problems slow her down. Her easy humour and intellectual curiosity make her an engaging companion, though her tendency to be disorganised and late for every appointment can frustrate those around her, however when she enters a room, she is often described as a sunbeam.

Background - A final year mechanical engineering student at TU Delft, Katrijn comes from a middle-class family in Rotterdam. Raised by practical parents who emphasised education and self-reliance, she developed a strong drive for academic excellence but struggled with forming deep emotional connections. Her background in engineering gives her a unique perspective on magical theory.
